Qlik Sense PostGreSql restore & Migrating Qlik object

Hi All,

We are migrating from Qlik sense Windows enterprise from  Nov 2020 to May 2021 which changes PostGreSql from 9.6 to 12.6 and above.

1. In this case backup taken at older version of PostGreSql which is 9.6. Can it be restored in newer version which is 12.6 in this case ? Do we need to follow just normal instructions mentioned in documentation and that should work ?

Also as part of migration we will install Qlik Sense, Qlik View & Nprinting on brand new servers so we need to migrate all docs , connections, Apps and tasks (View, Nprinting & Qlik Sense) to respective new servers with new installations.

2. Do we have any easy way or Utility available to migrate all app objects instead copy paste ? (Like I heard of QlikView management API where we can decide source and target servers and then import from old environment to new)

Thanks

Aniket

Hello @AniketVasadkar

If you install may 2021 fresh you would get a 12.5 version installed.

You can then use the same approach as stated in this article restoring the old 9.6 qsr on the new instance https://community.qlik.com/t5/Knowledge/Qlik-Sense-May-2021-Upgrade-bundled-PostgreSQL-to-12-5-versi...

For Qlik Sense you don't have the API approach like with qlikview since the information is stored in the database.

A good start point for migration are also those documents
