Restore QS Windows Enterprise & keep PostGres Version

Hi,

Im running QlikSense Windows EnterPrise 2022 MaySR4. I've created a full backup of the system.

Now I want to restore my Backup on another machine(with the same hostname), following instructions - https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-admin/May2022/Subsystems/DeployAdministerQSE/Content/Sense_DeployA...

When Im installing QlikSense 2022 May on the new Machine I automaticaly get PostGres 12.5. However, my backed up version is running PostGreSQL9.6.

-> How should I be able to restore my environment without changing the PostSQL Version during the restore?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Hello ,
The bet method would be to upgrade the postgres on the original machine first and then restore to the new machine. The instructions are below.

Hello ,

If you chose to restore in the current state,  you will get one warning doing so about schema public already exist that can be ignored. Meaning the backup from a 9.6 postgres to a 12.5 Postgres Qlik Sense install.

Hej @Ray_Strother

Thanks for the quick reply. The idea with the exercise is to verify the PostGres upgrade in a test environment before proceeding in the Production environment. Hence, I need to be able to restore my current Prod to a working Test environment. I'm not able to find any documention on how to do this, which is quite suprising.

Hi @Ray_Strother

These guide lines does not work since they assume that the PostGres version is the same. I want to restore QS May2022 with PostGres9.6.

When I install a fresh QS May2022 I automatically get PostGres12.6

Are there any instructions on how to restore restore QS May2022?

thanks in advance

Hi @pauljohansson , I think you can perform a fresh install of a pre-may2021 version to have the postgres on 9.6. Then upgrade to May2022 and perfom a restore to a machine with different hostname.

After all the post-upgrade checks, I suggest to upgrade Postgres to 12.5 for full compatibility/support with version post-May2022 (Nov2022 requires postgres 12.5).

Best,
