Do you know if there is a possibility to restrict the usage of a data connection to certain streams or apps?
We have rules in place, that will restrict the usage of connections to groups of users, but we have a requirement where we need to restrict this to certain users but, they should only be able to use the connection, if it is used in a certain stream or a certain app.
I'll give some insights on our use case:
We have the concept of data champions in place, who can create and edit apps in streams where they have privileges.
These Champions can access file shares with QVDs and data connections to different databases used in their department.
However, Champions are not allowed to hit the db of our ERP system directly.Data they need from there is stored in QVDs by ETL processes.
The challenge is, that there are reports that need to run on demand from our ERP system with parameters given by the user. ODAG and dynamic views don't work for us for various reasons, so we have experimented with a reload button solution. To successfully reload the data, the user needs to have access to the data connection. We are trying now to restrict this connection to dedicated streams, where users shall be able to access the connection, but where even data champions would not be allowed to create apps or edit the load script.
