Should Qlik Program Files folder be something other than C drive as a good practice?

Hi,

Should Qlik Program Files folder be something other than C drive as a good practice?

This is for installing Qlik Sense Enterprise.

Would it be recommended to put this folder in a shared network drive? Or is it better to put it in a bigger drive within the server where it's not the C drive?

For now it is a single node install but I can see it becoming a multinode in the future so wondering what would be best in the long term.

Hello!

The C:\program files\ directory for Qlik holds:

  • Program-related files for this particular install (service executables, etc...)
  • and databases (where multi nodes will connect to).

Apps and such are stored in the Apps folder configured in the Service Cluster configuration when you originally set up the system. This is a shared path that will be shared across all nodes in a multinode.

If you're interested in scaling out in the future, considering a stand-alone database may be something you want to look into. Sharing the entire Program Files folder available to other nodes is not necessary (or recommended).
