Upgrade PostgreSQL to 14.8 - Password issue

Hello experts!

I need to update my PostgreSQL 9.6 to 14.8 to upgrade my whole QlikSense installation to August 2023 version.

the QPI notes indicates that I need to update my password to avoid issue with special caracters (my case):
https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Release-Notes-Qlik-Sense-PostgreSQL-installe...

QB-15164: Qlik PostgreSQL Installer not working when Postgres superuser password contains special characters.

I used the following procedure:
https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/How-to-reset-forgotten-PostgreSQL-password-i...

but it says I need to update postgres and qliksenserepository with the the same password:

The passwords must be the same for both, when making changes.

QlikSense install process doen's force to have same password, so I'm confused if I should:

  • Update with same password only during PostgreSQL update, then I can put my former passwords back and go on with August 2023 release.
  • I must now consider that both passwords need to be identical for the future releases.

Your advices  will be heavily appreciated

Regards

Sylvain

@sOnO ,

While using the QPI tool this is a limitation that you can't use specail charachters in the super Admin password and having same Password for the users.

As you said this can be changed once you complete the upgrade so that shouldn't be an issue. If you anyway planning on upgrade you can easily take a backup of the Database, Unistall Qlik Sense, Install Latest version of Qlik Sense (Comes bundled with lates postgres version) then restore the Database.
