I am using the ETL Converer tool and I am to the point I see the jobs in Talend Open Studio in the Navigator Window, however I do not see them in the Repository Window. When I look at teh properties in the Navigator Window it shows they are archive files. My question is how do I get the jobs to show up in the Repository Window?
I tried this but, when I pointed it to the directory were the project is, it came back with a message that there were no archives to import. I am a Talend newbe so I might be doing this all wrong. What is the naming convention of the archive files? If I know what they are named I can search for them. THANKS for the help!! I appreciate it.
Hi It is impossible to import datastage jobs into Talend open studio, you have to redesign the job using TOS. Best regards Shong
On SOURCEFORGE
ETL Converter is a migration tool that builds open source ETL projects from existing projects made with proprietary software. The first version converts DataStage projects into Talend Open Studio projects. Other sources/targets will be available later.
I am using the tool you referenced ETLConversion, and it works great. I get the Datastage jobs into Open Studio and I see them in the Navigator tab, but not in the Repository tab. What can I do to get the job to show up in the Repository tab?
I figured this out. The problem is that Open Studio changed in 4.1.2 and they added a date to each job when exported. The ETL Converter tool was published before the release of 4.1.2 and was never updated for the current release. The work around for this is to use Open Studio 3.2.2 as the tatget of the ETL Conversion tool. It will work as advertised then export the project out of 3.2.2 and import ithe project into 4.1.2.
There is a technical explination for the reason 4.1.2 will import the 3.2.2 project export, even though it was before the date was added, but I don't have the time nor the space to address it here Ask the Talend Development team they can do a better job explaining it anyway.
Thanks to all of you who looked at this and offered help.
Could you please provide me a link to download Talend 3.2.2
We are in need of this ETL Converter tool very badly to convert more than 1000 DataStage jobs to Talend jobs
