Automatic generation of Link Table (or presentation with Insight)

Data models with multiple Fact tables are quite common, and Qlik Sense detects and warns us that Synthetic Keys are being generated at data load time.

If it can detect that much, can't Qlik Sense automatically generate a Link-Table?

Similar to Insight generation in analytics, I think the introduction of Insight to the data model is a necessary feature.

It could in theory not just generate a link table - that is not always the best solution. Any of the frequent ways to resolve the syn key would be good to have in a new wizard .....

  • Auto create a composite key
  • Suggest fields to drop
  • Analyse suitability for concatenation or join
  • Etc etc

Also allow a Qualify/Unqualify user preference. The use of qualification in the Data Manager is something I find frustrating !

@AndrewMcIlwrick   Thanks your advice.

I think new wizard to handle the multi-fact table is a nice idea.

Here are my ideas.

  • Mark the required table as a fact table.
  • Select the key items in the fact table.
  • Generate a script to build the linked table.

Then go back to using the Data Manager as normal and load the data.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

I was about to post the same idea.. Lol :). This would benefit Business Analysts a lot as they don't want to spend too much time in building a data model.
