Search is an important part of the user experience. There are ways to optimize search, however if space is a concern, please review Qlik Sense Enterprise on SaaS, where the resource requirements of the search will be managed by Qlik.
@Steven_Pressland I believe that @tschullo was not concerned about 'hardware' but instead of user experience. To be clearer: from what I understood he's asking to enable/disable these icons.
I agree that for some specific cases removing those search icons could be useful. Maybe it's already possible through css (themes?), but a nice option on the user interface (so app per app, not an 'all site' thing) would be indeed a nice touch.
