Put all fields in tablebox (should be more efficient)

A Datamanager wants to see all fields with all its data. Qlik Sense don't provide a smart a fast solution. Suboptimal workarounds:

  1. Previews in the Datamanager or Datamodel tab are only previews and don't show full data
  2. When using loading script, you can not use Datamanager tab

So you have to build a temporary app, implement a table box and then manually pull all fields into that table.

I would say, this is very inefficient and not state of the art. When you look what mostly DMBS-Tools provides, then... you missed this powerfull function!

Hello @george54

Here, we use the extension QuickTableViewer as a turnaroud.

Best regards,

I use this self generated data profile app, which is based on a qlikview version produced sometime ago, by some very clever folk and uses $Table and $Field and =minstring($Field) to see the values

The QVF is available if anyone wants it.

Hi Cjhansford

Don't know if you did understand my need correct. Actually don't understand where to put your code? E.g. in a tablebox =minstring($Field) gets an error

Georg54,

I think I have understood your use case correctly.  You want a data manager to be able to see all values, in all fields in all tables.  This allows you to see all of that and more.

Create a Master Dimension using  =minstring($Field)

Then create a filter pane using $Table in the Dimension data field and 'Data Profiler Tables' as the Title.

Create another filter pane using $Field in the Dimension data field and 'Data Profiler Fields' as the Title .

Then create another filter pane using the Dimension Master Item you generated earlier and use the same expression in the Title.

When you now add data to the application it will show you all the Tables, fields and values loaded.

The other expressions are variations of the same Master Item.

Any problems let me know and I will send you the qvf.

Chris

George,

I had to post the QVF in the Documents and Videos area using this thread name.

Hopefully you can now download it.

Chris,

Do have the problem that the app is using the same name as an existing dat connection. Would like to avoid to replace it the existing one, even if I don't know what type of data connection will be affected. Please help.

And I did try to use your instructions. A have a problem with the MinString($Field) as Master-Item. In the third filterpane got an invalid dimension.

George,

This app uses whatever data is loaded into it, so the connection is immaterial here.   The data that is currently being used is generated in the load script, so is not reliant on any connection.

Once it is imported then you need to load some of your own data into it. Then all the elements work, but until data is loaded it will give errors.

Did import, had to replace an existing App. So did create an empty App and now don't know the next steps. Do I have to put this code in every App I used in a separate section?  Thanks for further step-by-step information.

George

Thank you all for your feedback on ways to improve our product. While this is something we understand would be useful, it's not on the short-term roadmap. Please continue to show your support for this idea.
