[resolved] Weird "blocks" or "windows" appearing on top of normal display

Display/resolution issues have been reported on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, especially on large resolutions or 4K screens. See for instance the screenshot "weirddisplay.png" below.

Several users have found a "fix" for this.
A user 'fixed' it via the compatibility troubleshooter. See the screenshots:

I also have this problem. I am using WIN10 instead of WIN7. Not sure it cause by WIN10 O/S. I use compatibility troubleshooter. Did not work the first time. Third time before it work properly.

After closing and opening the new session, the ghost "block" or "windows" come back again. Really difficult to use.
