How to change the QlikView client interface language (AJAX, Desktop, Plugin)

Environment:

QlikView

QlikView AJAX Client (Full Browser Client)

Option 1 (Server-side, affects all users)
  1. Stop the QlikView Server Service
  2. Navigate %ProgramData%\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\
  3. Locate the  Settings.ini
  4. Take a backup of the file
  5. Open the file with administrative permissions and modify it as follows:
    1. Create the setting InterfaceLanguage=<language>
    2. Set the language to any of the supported languages
      Example:

      [Settings 7]
      InterfaceLanguage=German
      [...]

Note: Make sure the setting is added after [Settings 7] but before any other section marker [... ]
  6. Save settings.ini

Option 2 (Client side)

  1. Open the QlikView AccessPoint
  2. Open Favorites & Profile on the AccessPoint (top right)
  3. Open the Profile tab
  4. Set the Language as desired.

Note: This setting is saved in locally saved browser cookies. Clearing cookies reverts the language back to English.

QlikView Plugin and Desktop Client

Both options affect only the current user.

Option 1:

  1. Open any QlikView document in AccessPoint using QlikView Plugin or Desktop Client
  2. Go to Menu - User Preferences... - General
  3. Select Change User Interface
  4. Change language and press Ok
  5. For the settings to apply close the client and reopen any QlikView document using QlikView Plugin or Desktop Client

Option 2

  1. Stop all active IE Plugin sessions or Desktop instances
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikView\
  3. Locate the  Settings.ini
  4. Take a backup of the file
  5. Open the file with administrative permissions and modify it as follows:
    1. Create the setting InterfaceLanguage=<language>
    2. Set the language to any of the supported languages
      Example:

      [Settings 7]
      InterfaceLanguage=German
      [...]

Note: Make sure the setting is added after [Settings 7] but before any other section marker [... ]
  6. Save settings.ini
