Not able to create a connection to Azure Blob Storage from Qlik Azure connector in Qlik Sense SaaS

Qlik Sense throws the below error while connecting to the "Azure Storage" Connector:

HttpStatusCode: Unauthorized, StatusCode: 401, StatusDescription: Server failed to authenticate the request.

status code 401 server failed to authenticate the request.png

Environment

Resolution

A good walkthrough of configuring Azure Blob Storage for access by Qlik Cloud can be found here:

Configuring Azure Blob Storage in Qlik SaaS (Qlik Cloud Services, Qlik Sense Business)

  1. Double-check all param values (make sure no leading/trailing whitespace just in case) and also that the user has these permissions:
    • Storage Blob Data Owner
    • Storage Blob Data Contributor
    • Storage Blob Data Reader
  2. Check/Test connecting via another method, e.g: via Azure Storage Explorer (just to validate permissions, etc.,)
  3. Check the "Networking" setting under your Storage Account in the Azure portal if  "Enabled from selected virtual networks and IP addresses" is enabled.
  4. You must use the "User Principal Name" to create the Azure connection

I've heard that there is a bug causing this error, making any attempts at solving the issue unsuccessful. Are there any updates on when this will be working again?

Hello @forsludd ,

Do you still see the same error after following this article?

Please be noted that the 4th point is the most important. If your issue still exists, I would request you open a Support Case with the error screenshot.

Hello @vickyuv18

As per microsoft.com, The User Principal Name (UPN) attribute is an internet communication standard for user accounts. A UPN consists of a prefix (user account name) and a suffix (DNS domain name). The prefix joins the suffix using the "@" symbol. For example, someone@example.com.

In our case, this refers to how you define the user when setting up the connection between Qlik Cloud and Azure.

All the best,
Sonja
