QlikView Management Console (QMC) hangs when opening user document properties

Opening a QlikView Document's properties (server objects, etc...) causes the QlikView Management Console (QMC) to time out.

 

Environment:

QlikView 

A very large number of server objects can cause this to happen.

Resolution:

To prevent the timeout:

1. Stop the QlikView Management Service
2. Go to C:\Program Files\QlikView\Management Service
3. Open the QVManagementService.exe.config file.
4. Locate <add key="SocketTimeOutInSeconds" value="600"/>
   If not present, create the line and adjust value= as required.
   If present, change the value as required.
5. Save the file
6. Start the QlikView Management Console

It will still take some time before the document properties are opened, but at least it should not time out. You might need to set up an even higher value than 600.

To avoid the wait, you will need to clean up the .Shared file, removing all the objects that are not needed anymore.
