Is it safe to restart OS with Qlik sense services running

Hi guys, sorry newbie here, I would like to ask you if it is safe to restart OS with Qlik sense services running. What are your best practices? I could not find anything on the internet about this.

Yes. It is generally safe to reboot the Windows OS while Qlik Sense services are running. Qlik Sense services are Windows services and are designed to start automatically when the node starts. Qlik's documentation also explicitly lists restarting the server as a valid troubleshooting action.

@Chip_Matejowsky Our question is about rebooting the qlik sense server (rebooting windows), not qlik sense services, links you posted are about qlik sense services there is nothing about server itself

@Chanty4u  Link which you posted is about situation when services are not running. Our question is 
if it is safe to reboot qlik sense server when qlik sense is running. 

Our opinion is that this should never be done (could be dangerous and in rare circumstances could cause significant problems). We think that correct approach is:
1. stop qlik services 
2. stop postgres database 
3. reboot server itself 

But we were not able to find this recommendation anywhere in official documentation/community articles. 
Hence this question.

The approach to stop the Qlik services and PostgreSQL before rebooting is fine. But not really needed 

I rarely stop all services manually before any reboot

When you initiate a server reboot, Windows sends a stop signal to all running services, including Qlik Sense , allowing them to close their processes and save states properly. 

If you have a Multi-node environment then you have to stop the RIM nodes first, reboot central and then RIM node(s)

@PaulVerkooijendupe what about situation where there is above 100gb ram consumed by engine ? 
Will windows wait for engine to stop, or will it kill it ? 
It happens normally when you are manually stopping engine service, that it cannot stop in default time window, and then whole stopping process could not end succesfully.

Hi @janyf,

Never had any real issues with it. 100Gb could take a while.
By default Windows will wait for 20 seconds to stop the service. After this time it will be forced.

If you feel worried about shutting down in time, then just use the proposed way to shutdown the services manually before rebooting.
