Migration of Qlik Sense - old token-based licence

Hello,

I have a Qlik Sense Enterprise installation, using the old token-based licence model. I'm not using the signed licence model and don't plan to.

I wish to reinstall Qlik Sense on a new server, using the same licence.

The original installation has not been updated for a while so I fear that using the PosgreSQL export/import may not work properly due to the versions difference. In addition, the hostnames are different, and I have relatively few data to export/import and few users to configure, so starting from scratch with a pristine installation if fine here.

I have two concerns :

  • During the installation, in addition to the licence, we have to provide a "control number". Is the control number supposed to expire ? Can I still use the one from the original installation (from years ago) or should I request a new one before installing ?
  • Is stopping all Qlik related service on the old server before installing Qlik Sense on the new one is enough to avoid any trouble regarding the licence usage ?

Thank you for your help !

Regards,

Hi Julien

The control number itself does not expire — it's a static activation credential tied to your serial number. When licensing Qlik Sense using a serial and control number, the LEF is downloaded when the serial number and control number are entered in the QMC

Stopping services on the old server before activating the new one is the right thing to do, both from a good practice standpoint and to avoid any ambiguity.
