PostgreSQL 17.x and 18.x and the specific schema permission script for PostgreSQL 15.x and 16.x.

I would like a clarification. According to:

It seems that PostgreSQL 18.x is supported.

PostgreSQL 15.x and 16.x require some other work in order to get it working, hence the note:

To use PostgreSQL versions 15 and 16, you must grant all permissions on the public schema to the qliksenserepository user for proper functionality in Qlik Sense databases. For more information, see Granting permissions for PostgreSQL versions 15 and 16.

Would it be safe to assume that PostgreSQL 18.x does not need that script?

Would then the process be:

1. Stop all Qlik Sense services (on all nodes if available).
2. Backup current PostgreSQL DB.
3. Stop current PostgreSQL DB service.
4. Install PostgreSQL 18.x.
5. Make sure the service is running.
6. Restore DB backup dumps to PostgreSQL 18.x.
7. Run Qlik Sense repository service (on all nodes if available).
8. Update the connection strings using QlikSenseUtil.exe to reflect the new path. (typically found in: C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense\Repository\Util\QlikSenseUtil\QlikSenseUtil.exe)
9. Run the rest of the services.

Can someone confirm the above procedure?

I'll share the results of my tests below:

I performed a fresh install of Qlik Sense Server (May 2026 IR) and Standalone PostgreSQL 18.4.1 (Windows Server 2025).

Here's the steps:

• Installed Postgresql standalone
• Configured pg_hba, and postgresql.conf following the article.
• Manually created the databases using pgAdmin 9.15 (comes with PostgreSQL)
• Create Database > named the database > click ok

Run the following script:

Creating login roles

Installed Qlik Sense May 2026 IR

Correct. It doesn't seem to be necessary.

Regarding the steps you posted, I'm not sure. Seems to be right, I'm afraid you'll have to recreate certs as well. I'll defer to a Qlik agent or suggest that you open a support case.
