USER CALs and DOCUMENT CALs have disappeared from the System/Licenses/<Qlikview Server>/Assigned CALs screen

On the "General" TAB, both counts are 0 licenses (of X number) of NAMED CALs     and   0 licenses (of Y number) of DOCUMENT CALs.    How do I get those counts correctly reset ??    We tried starting the individual QV services on the server... and then tried a server RESTART.

Now, after the RESTART, the count of the NAMED CALs is slowly rising; appears to be when someone (who USED to have a NAMED CAL) logs in, the system keeps track on that user.  The DOCUMENT CAL number is NOT increasing now, however...

Hi

This issue of disappearing USER CALs and DOCUMENT CALs from the QlikView Management Console is a known problem that can occur in certain situations. There are several potential causes and solutions:

  1. License expiration or changes: If a license expires or a new license is applied, it can sometimes result in the loss of CAL assignments. In such cases, restoring from a backup of the caldata.pgo file may help recover the lost assignments.

  2. Server crashes: A server crash can lead to the loss of CAL assignments. Restoring PGO files from a backup in all relevant locations can resolve this issue.

  3. Upgrade-related issues: Upgrading QlikView from one version to another (e.g., 12.40 to 12.70) can sometimes cause the loss of user lists in the Assigned CALs section. This may be due to misconfiguration of QlikView servers after the upgrade.

  4. CAL limitations: If the "Limit number of CALs" option is enabled and set to 0, it can prevent the assignment of CALs and cause existing assignments to disappear.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Check the license status and ensure it's valid and properly applied.
  2. Restore the caldata.pgo file from a recent backup if available.
  3. Verify QlikView server configurations, especially if you've recently upgraded.
  4. In the QlikView Management Console, go to System > Licenses > [Your License] > Client Access Licenses (CALs) > Limitations. Ensure the "Limit number of CALs" checkbox is unchecked, or if a limit is desired, set an appropriate value.
  5. If unchecking doesn't work immediately, try setting the allowed CALs to the maximum number present in the license, apply the changes, and then uncheck the "Limit number of CALs" option.

If the problem persists, it may be necessary to involve Qlik support for further investigation and resolution.
