Advantage of a "parent-child" hierarchy over a horizontal hierarchy dimension table?

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out what the advantage of a parent-child hierarchy in combination with the Hierarchy function over a horizontal hierarchy dimension table in Qlik Sense is. Anyone an idea?
