Boxplots | Definition of dimension and difference to x-axis

Hello all,

I have a rather theoretical question concerning Boxplots in Qlik Sesne:

What is the general meaning and purpose of the dimension field? Regardless of which fields I choose as dimensions, for equasl x-axes fields, the same boxplots are presented.

I would be very pleased about an illustrative example.

Best regards

Hi Tina,

One dimension is the x-axis. This give you the number of boxplots, 1 to n.

The other dimension, you can see as the values that represent one value in the boxplot.

Say for instance you have 5 distribution centers and they all have deliveries with certain times. You want to know what the deviations are between the deliveries and between the DCs.

  • So your first dimension is the DC, making 5 boxplots.
  • The second dimension would be Delivery. Because on dot would be one delivery.
  • The measure would than be the sum of the delivery time.

Does this make a bit more sense?
