Build a Qlik Sense in a new customer

Hello everyone,

I am really new to Qlik Sense tools. I looked at some documents but I still have questions about how to implement a solution based on Qlik Sense for a customer.

Currently, we will have a new customer who wants a Qlik Sense solution for their company. They only have an SAP BW solution and don't have Qlik solutions at all.

So my questions are :

- Qlik Sense uses QVD to load its data so do we need to install a QlikView server to create our QVD in order to use Qlik Sense server or can I create my QVD directly in QlikSense ?

- I saw that Qlik Sense connectors exist so can I use them to connect SAP BW to Qlik Sense ?

Hi Quentin,

you can install qliksense desktop to create QVD's.

just for clarification you want to fetch data from SAP?

Yes, the aim for this customer is to fetch data from SAP BW then create some QVDs in order to use them into Qlik Sense.

I am not sure about SAP connector availability for qliksense, but if it is available than you can extract data easily

Qlik Sense supports QVD's format

Qlik Sense can be use with connectors for SAP have a look here :

Just correcting Bruno,

SAP connectors are available for Qlikview only not for Qliksense.

If you are planning to pull data from SAP using Qliksense,as of now not possible but later with new version might get SAP connector

1) You can directly make use of the qliksense server for every thing. You can even migrate the qlikview apps directly to Qliksesne. The entire data model will remain the same. All you need to do is to create the UI.

2) Yes you can use the connectors to connect to SAP BI from qliksense.
