Building custom extensions

Hi everyone,

I am tasked with a mini project to build a custom extension that mainly involves displaying multiple map layers, Polygon mouse-over behaviour with multiband colouring.

I have tried the tutorial on how to create a custom extension but I am unsure on how to get started with this.

I would appreciate if some advice can be provided for me to find out more on how to complete this task

It sounds like you have watched the basic tutorials on creating extensions but don't feel you've acquired enough knowledge to create a map extension from scratch? That's understandable, a robust map extension is a pretty big undertaking. I'd suggest you take a look at what already exists out there. Start with Qlik Branch and see if there is a project you can use as a starting point.

There are also a number of excellent commercial mapping extensions available such as QlikMaps and GeoQlik (sorry if I didn't list them all). You may want to consider the value of purchasing this type of extension vs creating it yourself.

Lastly, Qlik Sense 2.0 includes improvements to the Sense mapping object. If you have not already done so, you may want to review the latest to see if it meets your need out of the box.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I have actually looked at the available extensions in qlik sense and only found google maps as one that is map-related. I was hoping Qlik Sense would provide something like this that has already worked in Qlik View

I have some shapefiles in my computer that i intended to actually load to the visualisation.

‌There is no link. It's just the map object that's built in to Qlik Sense.
