Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Hi Upendra,

Qlik Sense Desktop is not designed for real-time data access. Note - what you are attempting to do may be better suited from QlikView and not Qlik Sense.

However if the data stream via a URL is accessible this is possible using the web file option by putting the URL in the configuration window. If the data comes back as XML it can be parsed into fields for use. With Desktop a manual load process will be necessary to get the latest data, and you may have to store the existing data to a QVD file and then incrementally load that with the latest data from the stream. Then you would use the QVD file as the main data source for your visualizations. Once Qlik Sense Server is available this process can be automated and scheduled to refresh as often as needed.

At this point, if you are a Qlik customer / partner - you may want to discuss this with one of our technical reps.

In the mean-time please see this video for more information:  Data Load Editor - Loading Web Data (video)

Hello Upendra - is there an OLEDB, ODBC driver available? Can you access the data you need from a URL using a web call via a Web Service call or REST Call?

If so - you can use the ODBC / OLEDB option in the Data Load editor to connect to the driver configuration, or use the web file option and enter in the URL.

If the data comes back as XML or JSON - it may be able to flattened out to suit your need.

let us know.

Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Hi Upendra,

Qlik Sense (again, not QlikView Sense) can read from any ODBC, OLE DB, file or web site that you can connect to. If you want to read from a web page generated by WebSphere MQ, then make sure the code is reachable and readable in a HTML/XML format. If you want to read from the database behind it, you will need to install and configure the drivers to do it.

Once you have it ready, go to Sense Desktop > Data load editor > Create new connection > Web file

Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Hi,

I have streaming data coming from MQ. I am trying to use Qlik Sense to visualize data (since the data will be constantly changing - 100 TPS). I dont want to use to a database/flat file cause I am not storing it. No HTML page. Data is ouputted as streams XMl files (in memory)

Does Qlik sense have this capability to capturing data from MQ (IBM/Apache) and displaying it in real time.

Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Hi,

We were evaluating an operational dashboard for our customer. I felt Qlik sensen can be used as IBM Cognos Real time Monitoring or Oracle BAM.

If there are any similar product (in Qlikview product stack) please advise.

Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Upendra - solutions such as you have mentioned have been built in the past with QlikView. Note that is more of a near real-time solution. If you are looking for a solution to read transactions directly on the stream AS they happen - then perhaps QlikView is not the right solution. It depends on the frequency - but note it is possible.

"solutions such as you have mentioned have been built in the past with QlikView"

Can you name those? Are they still supported?

QlikView 11.20 with QlikView Server and QlikView Publisher, and yes, they are still supported and can be used.

You can use near real time by creating a reload every few seconds if you have QlikView Publisher licensed.

Re: Can Qlikview sense read data from IBM MQ?

Hi Upendra,

For clarity, Qlik Sense and QlikView are different products with different capabilities and different use cases.  My recommended approach for you would be to get in touch with our sales team.  They will ask you for a deeper understanding of your project and then recommend which product best fits.  You can reach out directly here.
