Create new connection (OLE DB) issue

Hi All,

I tried to create a new OLE DB connection in Qlik Sense Desktop but having Connector connect error: {0}.

All credentials have been supplied correctly.

Test Connection, it was successful.

I only encountered the error when clicking Create button.

Thanks.

Hi Gian, If you are using a corporate PC, then the port is must likely be closed. I cannot tell you the port for it. Depends on the DB. Please google it.

However, as you can connect the DB and have a successful test, the port issue might not be pertinent.
Can you try running the desktop in admin mode? That might help.

The error is really vague, might be anything. Driver to access issues. May be mto‌ would be able to give us any insights.

Thanks and regards,

Sumit

Hello Sumit,

Have created new connections just now. But I find it weird because earlier, I was not able to create new connections (OLE DB). Will keep you posted tomorrow if the issue will occur.

Thanks.

Hi Gian,

That's great.

Did you try with Admin access?

Thanks!

Thanks guys - for the great communication - let us know what you find - typically something like this is network, port, firewall related. - Keep in mind that Qlik Sense Desktop is a web application with a Chromium wrapper - so it is possible that an executable was blocked our port was denied access at one point.

Actually the issue still persists.

We somehow managed to create new connection few weeks ago.

After getting access to Management Studio I checked that it set to SQL Auth and it wasn't. After changing that it worked for me!

I tried to create new connection again earlier to test but the same error. But after a few minutes, was able to create new connection.
