Data Connection Timeout Change

Hi All,

We have a data connection pointing to an Oracle database. We have created the connection using the Qlik ODBC Connector Package option. We are able to connect to the database properly.

We would now like to increase the timeout for this data connection. However, we could not see any option to increase the timeout from with Qlik Sense.

So, we tried to create an ODBC connection to the database and set the timeout in that ODBC. We used the Qlik-oracle driver to create the ODBC connection and set the timeout. The ODBC connected to the dataabse successfully. However, when we created the data connection to the ODBC, the connection did not return any table.

We also tried to use the native Oracle driver present in Oracle Client to create the ODBC connection. But there we are only getting the option of creating ODBC with TNS Service name and not with Host Name and Service Name as required in Qlik Sense. We could not use this driver as we don't have the TNS Service Name.

So, can anyone please suggest how we can increase the timeout for the data connection.

Thanks,

Rajarshi Guin

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. However, my query is not regarding the TNS Service name in Qlik Sense. I want to increase timeout for a Oracle data connection and need help on how that can be done.

Thanks,

Rajarshi

Hi, based on following

We also tried to use the native Oracle driver present in Oracle Client to create the ODBC connection. But there we are only getting the option of creating ODBC with TNS Service name and not with Host Name and Service Name as required in Qlik Sense. We could not use this driver as we don't have the TNS Service Name.

I thought, that you are able to set timeout using native Oracle driver and this is ok, but you are than not able to connect to Qlik because of Qlik requires Host Name only not TNS Service.

If it is not ok you can set timeout  by setting advanced parameter when creating connection.

By default it is set to 30 seconds. In image above it is changed to 120 seconds. You can see details here. Oracle documentation here
