Default colour bar chart vs pie chart

Hey all

I know this is a very small issue, and might be easily solvable, but I can't seem to figure it out.

My issue:

Default Colour Issue.PNG

Both charts are build in the exact same way: same drill dimensions, same measure, same sorting. But on the bar chart, Maintenance gets the yellow colour, while on the pie chart, Professional Services gets the yellow colour. If I try converting one to the other, the colours change as well.

Anyone has any idea how to resolve this?

Kind regards,

Tim P.

Hi,

Why dont you use the custom color option for dimension.

All you need to do is create a master dimension and then assign the colors of your choice to the values of the field.

Once it is defined, it will remain same across charts.

Hello  Tim - Have you set the Color as "By Dimension" in the Colors and legend section?

Yup, both charts have been set to apply colour by dimension, the same dimension.

It seems like the bar chart is following the sorting I've applied to my dimensions for applying the colours, while the pie chart is not.

Why don't you make your dimension a master Item and set the colour of your dimension values in there so it will be consistently applied across all your charts in the dashboard.

I'm not quite following what you're saying.

The colour is set to custom, applied by dimension on both charts. The dimension that's being used is the drilldown that's used as dimension in the chart.

Hi,

You are true, because the default colors will be assigned to values as per their sorting.

If you want to keep the same color, you can use the custom colors or you can use the option of "Persistent  colors" in color section.

Check this option in both the charts.

It's a drilldown, which isn't able to make use of the option to apply colours like this?

Well, both pie and bar chart are using default colours and are sorted by the same expression.

If the default colours will be assigned to values as per their sorting, why isn't the pie chart doing it that way?
