Error upgrading to recent version of qlik sense desktop

I downloaded the most recent version of qlik sense desktop.  The installation failed with a generic An error has occurred message.

See the logs for detailed information on  the error.

I viewed the logs created.  Only one item in the three available logs stand out.  In the demoapps.log file, see text below.

MSI (c) (C4:90) [12:10:06:767]: Decrementing counter to disable shutdown. If counter >= 0, shutdown will be denied.  Counter after decrement: -1

MSI (c) (C4:90) [12:10:06:767]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603

The other two logs display a value of zero for the mainenginethread.

Don't see any other text in the logs that provide feedback on what the error is.

Worst of all, in the course of this installation the previous version of qlik was uninstalled.

Now I don't have any version of qlik installed.

At this point, I need to find out how to read the logs to determine what is the cause of the error.

HI,

Try to stop the services of qliksense  and disable it.

If you can't stop the services, can be use taskkill /PID 2704 /F in the promp of windows.

Then you stop the services, try to upgrade the Qliksense

Regards!

There are no services on my PC for qlik.  Unless the service starts with something other than qlik.

Using Windows 7 and checked services with services.msc.

Oops I think that the problem is with Qlik sense server, sorry my mistake

Now did you ran the software of Qliksense as Administrator of Windows?

If you have an Antivirus installed on your computer? Try to disable it, only for test.

Also try to download the software, sometimes is corrupt or something like that.

Hi David,

I have seen this when Qlik Sense Desktop was installed by, let's say user1 and then upgraded or removed by user2. Is there more than 1 user id on this machine, where this scenario could have occurred?

Can you attach the log files to this thread for us to review?

Thanks

Same user for all installations.   I don't see how to attach a file to message.

I checked the log files.  They contain user name, computer name and other information I can't make available.
