Extract data from qvd by python

Qvds seems to be very good in storing data and I think I can use it to store data marts which used not only inside qlik sense applications but some other advanced analytics. 

Is there any way to extract data from Qvds and store to data frame python directly?

I googled it and found some hints, but still not work (https://community.qlik.com/t5/New-to-QlikView/How-to-extract-QVD-data-using-python/td-p/1398020)

i've so far wasted 10 hours on this obvious   question as well.    So far it looks like qlik is dismissing python developers in favor of advocating a simpleton click and drag type interface.
