When Qlik Sense associates tables in the load script, does QS treat the two tables as having an OUTER JOIN, INNER JOIN, LEFT JOIN, RIGHT JOIN?
I've been assuming Outer Join, but would like someone to verify, please.
Default Outer join, if join with just keyword JOIN. There is also another variation Keep when compared to SQL server joins.

Yes Qlik associates as default outer join unless we specify.
