New to Qlik Sense

Hi all,

I've build a document with qlikview and now I want to create a qlik sense document with the same data and schema.

To do so, this is how I proceeded:

I've created a new application with qlikSense:

I clicked on it and then drag and droped my QV document in here:

I found out that all the data and schema were imported and thus I was able to create something.

The thing is:

let's suppose my QlikView source document is named test.qvw, when I drag it into the QlikSense, it becomes test.qvf.

but when I try open the new test.qvf file in the sense, the hub is opened and I don't find my test.qvf in it.

I have to always drag the test.qvf in the "carrefour_finale" application to see the dashboard I've created !

But, I want to make my new test.qvf available in the Qliksense server. If I'll put it as it is now, nothing will show up !

How should I proceed? Thank you all !

Hi Omar,

First you don't need to create a new application to start, you could directly drag and drop your QVW in the hub of Qlik Sense desktop.

When you do that :

• a QVF file replace your QVW file in his location
• a backup of your qvw file is saved in C:\Users\YourLogin\Documents\Qlik\Sense\AppsBackup\2.1.1

The best way is to :

• Copy your QVW in C:\Users\YourLogin\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps
• Drag and drop your QVW from C:\Users\YourLogin\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Apps to the hub of Qlik Sense desktop
• It's done, your QVF is in your hub
  

For infomation, I use version 2.1.1 of Qlik Sense.

Hi Oman,

Its very easy to convert a QVW to a QVF. Just save the file in the Sense/Apps folder where Qlik Sense is installed and open QlikSense. You should now see the test.qvw there. Just open the data load editor and save the app. That converts the Qvw to Qvf and you can start of building your visuals.

And when I does, I can't do anything anymore ! What to do to overcome this?

Hello,

in my opinion it is a bug in 2.1.1 and it will be fixed in 2.2.

I have tested this behaviour in 2.2 beta and it does not occur any more.

Sébastien, I have yet another question

I want my document to be available in the qlik sense server. I have never worked with the sense server. So I don't really know how that works.

Can you guide me and help me with that? thanks !
