How to compare current period sales to last year sales

I have a company with a year end of 31 March.

I have an excel spreadsheet with data for the following fields

Date

Invoice number

Period number

Sales value

I want to create a KPI showing

Sales for last month

Sales for  last month last year

Sales year to date to last period for this year

Sales year to date to last period for last year

Can anyone help or put me in the direction of any tutorial videos
