Ignore filter in chart but filter on another variable based on filter selection

Hi everyone! I hope someone here could help me out with the following problem:

Assume I want to build an app based on a table of two dimensions (product name, product category) and one measure (sales). I want the dashboard to consist of one filter only - product name - but I want some of the  charts in the app to include all products are grouped in the same product category as the one that is selected in the filter. Is that doable?

Hi @eiresp ,

It is by default available. as Qlik works in associative nature.

if you select a product name all product categories will be selected which are associative with that particular name.

HI @abhijitnalekar , thank you so much, but I'm afraid you misinterpreted my question. I don't want to visualize the product categories, but rather the products that belongs to the same product category as the product selected in the filter. I kind of want the product filter to act like a product category filter, if that makes sense. That way the user shouldn't need to care about filtrering on product category. The product filter should do the job.

Hello,

So if Apple is a product and mapped with three product categories like Jam,Juice,Phone.. You have to select category to get the correct output. That's the associative nature of Qlik. When you put Category as dimension in any chart and select any product, chart will show only categories that are connected with the product you selected.

What are you expecting to happen when you select Apple as a product.

Product Category Sales
Apple Juice 20
Apple Jam 30
Apple Phone 50000

Correct me if I understood the question incorrect.

Thanks,

Ashutosh

Hi @AshutoshBhumkar , in some of my chart, I'm expecting the product filter to "act like" the category filter. So if the user selects Apple, he/she should get a bar chart including all products that belongs to the product category apple belongs to.

The standard behaviour would of course be that the bar chart only shows the product that is selected in the filter, but I want the bar chart to show all of the same category. So when the user selects Product 1 in the filter, the bar chart should visualize the sales of both Product 1 and Product 2 (because they are both part of Category A).

Product Category Sales
Product 1 Category A 23
Product 2 Category A 53
Product 3 Category B 64
Product 4 Category B 23
