One button to select and deselect same values

I have a button that selects certain values in a field with an action.

The action is configured as follows:

Action: Select values matching search criteria

Field: zone

Value: ='East'

I would like that when the same button is pressed again, the values 'East' in the zone field get deselected, without impacting other selections in the same field.

I have found this this thread  that is for qlikview and I don't know how to apply it with qlik sense.

Do I need to create a variable in the load script and assign it a value when the button is pressed and pressed again? Do I need to add a field in my table?

Hi, you can try the "toggle field selection" action, it adds or removes one value from the selection, not affecting ather values selected.
