Qlik Sense response time is "VERY SLOW" compared to QlikView with same configuration

Hi Community,

In my organization, we have Qlik Sense Enterprise (version-14.5.4 Feb2021) Installed on dedicated server.

Now there is a frequent problem there, which is now becoming headache for developers and users too.

Its RAM Consumption can be seen high (around 50%) very often even if no activity is going on and Users are inactive,

Due to this App Response time (App Size: 400MB) is very SLOW, resulting in Escalations from Client.

We tried Optimizing app, Clearing Space from server, but no major impact on performance.
Also, Will reducing app cache time help in improving performance.

Support Team,
Please assist me here as we are migrating from Qlikview to Qlik Sense and We are begining to regret the decision to upgrade to it as Additional number of features in Qlik Sense make no difference if normal performance is being compromised too much!

I don't see why having 50% RAM usage would be the reason for apps working slowly. What makes you think this is the case? There's still 50% available...

If your issue is that apps load slowly to begin with (that is, the first user to open an app waits for a long time), you may want to pre-cache your apps similar to the Pre-load that was available in QV. See: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense-developer/February2023/Subsystems/NetSDKAPI/Content/Sense_NetSDKAP...

You may also want to check that there aren't other things causing slower behavior. Some of the more common ones can be found here: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/May2023/Subsystems/Hub/Content/Sense_Hub/Apps/app-performance.htm

If the app itself runs slowly, there are tools available that you can use to try and isolate the object(s) that are slow to run and you can perhaps modify them to be more efficient or apply better calculation conditions to prevent unnecessary and excessive object calculation.

Finally, you should probably upgrade to a supported version. This likely won't help with slow performance but it will help with getting support from Qlik. Versions are supported for two years from the original release date, so February 2021 has been out of support for three months.

Hey @Or
Thanks for your answer!

Can you please list the tools that you mentioned?

That would help in checking the root cause to the issue!

Hi Manish

What are the Resources specifications of your QV server and the QS server? are both single node? multi node? , are both dedicated servers ? What are other configurations that are being taken into account when comparing configurations between QV and QS ?

What were the results of initial testing when comparing an app developed in QV vs the one in QS? Were those identical (data model, expressions, etc)?

Were things added to QS app like extensions?

Do you have custom security rules that might affect QS environment?

There are multiple things that need to be taken in consideration as both products have different configurations and capabilities.

Don't forget to mark as "Solution Accepted" the comment that resolves the question/issue. #ngm
