Could you describe the variables issues you are having ?

You can define variables in your load script using Let or Set commands, or through the variable editor which you can access by the [x=] icon that is visible in the lower left of the screen when you're editing a sheet.

There is a QlikView converter utility that helps in converting QlikView documents (QVW files) to Qlik Sense apps.
