Rename Values in Filter Pane?

I have created a filter pane and one of the filters (We'll call it customer) has a customer number as the filter.   I would like to instead of showing the customer number, show the customer number concatenated with the customer name (a different field).    The number will still be the filter, but just the visual will have both the name and number

Ex

"00099875 - Customer Name"

I can't just use the name as the filter as many of the numbers might have the same name attached.

Re: Rename Values in Filter Pane?

For your filter pane expression, use

Aggr(CustomerNum & ' - ' & CustomerName, CustomerNum)

The Aggr will limit your selection to  just CustomerNum. See:

Re: Rename Values in Filter Pane?

Hi @sicdude

Is there a reason why you don't just want to use a concatenation of the two fields as your dimension?

If you don't want the ugly concatenated name in the filter pane then just create a master dimension with the two fields and label it what you want.

Mauritz

Re: Rename Values in Filter Pane?

I DO want the concatenated name in my filter pane.

I can't use the concatenated name as the filter because the data only has the "Customer number" that runs the data.  I would like to see both the number and the name visually, but the filter is still strictly on the number

Re: Rename Values in Filter Pane?

Hi @sicdude

I am not sure I understand your question correctly then. Do you not have the customer name for the customer number in your dataset? Because if you do then the concatenation should work. If you don't then I guess you just have to load a linking table with the customer number in one column (with the same field name as the customer number in your current data set) and the customer name in the other column.

If this still doesn't answer your question then you can maybe share an extract of your data set and what you require the output to be.

Mauritz
