Sort barchart with two dimensions by measure

Hi comm,

my problem is that i had a barchart with one dimension and 1 measure. But now i wanted to add the size as a second dimension and now i can't sort by measure anymore.

Someone know how to manipulate so i can sort by measure or is there an extension or other diagramm i can use for this?

thx in advance,

Eric

Yeah, this is not possible with two dimension grouping, may be only option i can think of now is for this chart alone you create a dimension expression concatenating of Product & Size like "Product - Size"

Eric,

as you can see in the help page:

In bar charts with multiple dimensions, sorting is locked to the first dimension. This dimension is what groups and stacks are based on, and sorting on a different dimension or a measure would break up these groups in an undesirable way. If you still want to sort by the measure value, try using the option Sort by expression on the first dimension under Sorting.

It is not possible.

In sorting tab, expand the dimension you want to sort and switch the auto mode and select the "Sort by Expression" option and give your measure expression there.

You can do that by using "Sort by Expression". Input the measure in this property.

hi,

thanks for ur answer. I know this way of sorting but the problem is that the combination of product and size sorted by a measure seems not to be possible.

Here a little example. As u can see it is sortet but not how it used to be with sorted by measure.

And when i turn it around so that the size is dimension number1 i dont like the way it shows the article.

cause then the product name is shown under every bar and thats not nice to look at.

But now I have some problems with the calc.

This is absolutely possible. Just set sorting options for all on Auto, except the first one, which should be sorted by the expression - and then type the exact formula that you use in your measure.
