Hi,

Few differences are as follows;

Straight Table	Pivot Table
Used when table is having less number of Dimensions and more Expressions	Used when table is having less Expressions and more Dimensions
It is possible to limit the number of Dimension limit tab	There is no Dimension limit tab
Hiding of columns is possible	Not possible
Grand Totals are possible	Sub Totals are possible, by selecting Partial Sums option in Properties>Presentation Tab>Dimensions and Expressions
Not possible	It is possible to convert rows into columns and columns into rows
Interactive Sorting is possible	Grouping is possible
Visual Cue option present	Not available
