If you’re new to Qlik Sense, start with this Discussion Board and get up-to-speed quickly.
The above section from Henric Cronström (http://community.qlik.com/blogs/qlikviewdesignblog/2014/07/29/view-or-sense) nicely explains the two different products. However, this leads me to think that Qlik Sense is actually better/advanced in many aspects with few limitations in featues compared to QlikView. This limitation seems a deliberate approach which could be a mere marketing strategy. I could not think of many reasons why Qlik Sense would not have all the featues that are there in QlikView. May be there are real reasons (apart from marketing aspect) which I could not think of. Request to share thoughts. It would be very nice if someone can explain some scenarios where a product Qlik Sensed (say this is the superior product I am thinking of with union of all featues of QlikView and QlikSense) is not desired but Qlik Sense.
In brief: Which is desired, Qlik Sensed or Qlik Sense? (Note: Qlik Sensed is the one I am thinking of)
.
Well, I scrolled down of the HIC post and found:
" I am not allowed to tell you what we have planned for the future, but I can see several possible scenarios: Merge the two products. Or, QlikView disappears because Qlik Sense is so much better. Or, the two products continue in parallel: QlikView survives and flourishes since it is much more flexible and allows for a much greater customization and Application building.
We will see. I can only promise that Qlik will listen to the customers and make decisions based on the feedback. "
which makes sense. I just hope that all the customers' feedback be so, so that we can get an integrated improved single product.
Thanks you.
Why not make Powerpoint a superior version of Excel?
Thanks Steve for your input. Your reply is really a likeable one. . However, the question is not probably answered or should not go unheard like that. Let's not go into the argument of appropriation of comparison between QlikView-Qlik Sense and Excel-Powerpiont. I guess the point I raised and asked for, from a customer's point-of-view is not that unjustified. May be people like me who are facing business users asking about better visualization seen with other tools or so everyday would agree upto some extend.
In my view, they are siblings with different treats. Rather than just progressing one major version into another, Sense is a metamorphosis of functionality from View into a next gen version of Business Discovery.
Sometimes you need to break path to do the stuff that really sets you apart. My opinion is that Sense is that leap.
Hi,
I also have great expectations on Qlik Sense....!!!!!
Hi,
Well Qlik View & Sense, are having their own essence. I have faced many times asked by my end users, can I get self data discovery, where they will have their own visualizations, and I believe for Qlik Sense will be appropriate.
I believe, if Sense could be integrated with View, so that we can our dashboards, as per user needs. If not full integration is possible, but at least some portion of it, so that users have flexibility to have there own customized dashboards, It's just a thought.
Thanks
Arindam Roy
In some ways this is all about licencing. If the licencing is done in such a way that an organisation can have a blend of QlikView and Qlik Sense - without breaking the bank - then all sorts of opportunities present themselves.
For now though, we will have to wait and see.
