export security rules - qlik sense, preparing for DR

Hi,

We need to plan for DR for qlik sense application. How do we migrate/export the custom properties, security rules from prod to dr box?

For data, going the file copy way. But, these, being part of application would not be covered.

any help much appreciated.

Do you need to do it for one app only? Or for the whole repository?

You can use a RepositorySnapshotManager (https://help.qlik.com/en-US/sense/3.2/Subsystems/PlanningQlikSenseDeployments/Content/Server/Server-...) for that...

Thanks Vladimir.

Will it take care of the customizations like - security rules, custom properties etc? Also, the files - apps etc?

Yes, it will.

I am using it to do a full backup of Qlik System.

You can use the same RepositorySnapshotManager app to do a system restore (just using the different set of commands - see the help link above).

It takes ~5 min to run the backup on my system...

Should work in your case.

Vladimir

Thanks Vladimir,

My understanding is that we need to perform the one level of replication - file/drive based and on top of it, the recoverysnapshot manager to sync the application data.  Is it correct/fine approach?

Apart from qlik files we have the DSN connections for hadoop connectivity, oracle tns connections etc.

Manoj,

All Repository features (including applications, tasks, security rules, connectors, etc) will be backed up using RSM.

You need to run a separate process for any external files (include scripts, External data, output QVDs, etc),if necessary. Any other drivers/ODBC settings, etc (if they are used by Qlik) should be backed up separately too.

Hello Vladimir,

I tried to go for repo snapshot manager (RSM) as tool to backup and restore. Backup was all fine. When restoring it failed - my issue is that I need to restore it on different server, as a part of DR. Here, it fails saying hostname DO NOT match.

Also, can I be selective i..e I do not want SSL certificates to be backed up/restored ?

Hey Vlad,

I am totally new to this. So, I had a question here.

As you mentioned 'All Repository features (including applications, tasks, security rules, connectors, etc) will be backed up using RSM.'

Is there a possibility i can customize this?

Say, I dont want to back up the security rules?

Do let me know, it will be a great help.

Thanks

Chhavi

Hi Manoj,

Did you find a way to restore on a different server?

You can also try Gitoqlok as a free tool for export/import security rules.

Also, Gitoqlok provides the ability to compare the different versions of Security Rules
