help: time-out of qlik sense in chrome

Dear, we need urgent support, since the Qlik Sense server of the client in Chile has been presenting time-out problems since its installation.

We thought it was a minor problem but the time-out for users is a little less than 2 minutes. This happens only with the Chrome browser and that is the official browser of the client. We are in the delivery stage and users have been affected their Qlik Sense user experience due to the time-out.

1.- The first image shows one of the panels after a filter selection and that was at 13:01 pm:

2.- The second picture shows the time-out and that was at 13:03 pm:

3.- In QMC the time-out was defined for 30 minutes:

We remain attentive to your help, thanks!!

Qlik Sense uses web sockets. If a websocket session is stopped this error shows up. Session idle time is a setting which can be controlled by multiple factors which most of them are not Qlik Sense. Here are those i bumped into:

  • Proxy - if your company uses proxy it has a standart setting to stop session after 5 min of idle
  • Session Idle time - if for example your environment is setup in AWS environmnet and you have load balancers (ALB or ELB) in front of it there is a setting in AWS configuration you have to change. The same applies to any other load balancer or reversed proxy which you might have in fron of your Qlik Sense
  • Group policies which overwrite connection setting

We had encountered such a situation at a client and it was found that client was using proxy to access Qlik Sense and with change in setting at  proxy the frequent time out was resolved.

See if this is case with your client.

Hi all,

Finally, the solutions are the same as those applied in other cases. The proxy has a timeout of 1 minute.

The IT area had to change configuration and that's it.

Thank you very much to all!
