Alternate State issue

Hi,

I have an issue with the alternate state I created for my use case.

Requirement:

When I select a month in the list box, I need to show the difference between the Selected month and the remaining months in the column.

For example, I selected Jan in the list box; the result column shows (Jan-Jan), (Jan-Feb), (Jan-Mar).... So the value changes dynamically with the selected month.

I am using Sum(total {A} Customer)-Sum(Customer) as my Alternate state expression in order to achieve the below requirement

My problem is, when I create the Alternate state for the very first time, it works and shows the right values in the last column. But after sometime, it stops showing the right values and gives incorrect values. Even if I clear all the selections and make fresh selections, it won't show the right intended values. But whenever I create a new Alternate state again and use it in the expression, it works. But it goes back to giving the same issue.

Re: Alternate State issue

Are you able to replicate this issue outside of this dashboard? The reason I say this is because a lot of the time, the problem is not the issue, but some kind of triggers or hidden fields or something else which causes this. It would be better if you check for those things rather than worrying about your expression as I don't think there is anything wrong with your expression

Re: Alternate State issue

What are the odds of Hidden fields affecting an alternate state? I tried to check Triggers and there aren't any. Wondering if it's the hidden fields, technically, they shouldn't affect this chart as they are not part of this object. Any suggestions/pointers please?

Re: Alternate State issue

Can't think of anything else, but there could be n number of things.... I think you have two options...

1) Share a qvw where you have this issue

2) Work on your to figure out... with clues from others (I hope others might kick in) marcus_sommerhic‌, rwunderlich‌, gwassenaar‌, troyansky

Re: Alternate State issue

Sunny, I have another column called Users that contains all the Users.

My Requirement is

1. When I select the month, I should see the values in the column only for the subsequent months. Meaning, if I select Mar, I should see the result values from Mar but not the previous months.

2. I also need to check what users are present in the Selected month and the remaining months and show the Result.

For example, when March is selected, the resultant column should show only those Users that are common in March and the remaining months respectively.

Re: Alternate State issue

Sunny, I tried the same with just one chart and no other components (charts and hidden fields, triggers etc). I get the same issue here as well. I saw the correct result first and now, I see numbers which make no sense

Re: Alternate State issue

Would you be able to share this app with us so that we can take a look at this

Re: Alternate State issue

What version and SR are you using?  Are you using any variables in the chart?
