Animation within QlikVIew

I am working with a design company in Spain who are looking to use QlikView. However, they are keen to have animation in their dashboards. Their web logo is animated and they are hoping to retain this feature when you open the dashboard.

They may also want to add sounds and animation to highlight various features on their dashboard.

Is animation a drain on processing and performance? Should I recommend they limit this where possible ?

Does QlikView have any animation functionality ?

Thanks,

MW.

It is possible to use animation QlikView but you to be careful how you use it; Is it going to add to the understanding of the data ? If it is a design company are they just looking for a few whizz-bangs to show off the designs ?

You may need to look at QlikView extensions to introduce animations to your app but they do not give you full QlikView experience.

If you are using animation as part of an event be aware that this will potentially delay calculation taking place on the tab the animation is on.

Regards,

Neil

To see animation logo use GIF, they do not slow your document. You may add even sounds (look in settings -> document properties ...)

Qlik has animation linked to some objects (charts) look at the button "Animate"

Also, bear in mind how often the user will be triggering these events. The user experience may not be quite as enjoyable as your clients hope if every time the user navigate between screens they get a moving corporate logo, sound or image being triggered.

Novelty has a tendency to wear off quickly.

Hi, you have to add GIF and you could add some kinds of sounds to simulate an animation, the gif gives the posibility to have movement and animation in the document.

good luck!

Thanks everyone. I will look into GIF images and see what the client is currently using on their website.

Good point, Neil, about the special effects being triggered by an event. It seems a good idea in practice but annoying if it happens too frequently.
