Connecting Qlikview to OBIEE RPD!

Hi,

I was trying to connect QlikView to OBIEE RPD and build a report. I am able to connect to OBIEE RPD by creating a DSN and pull the data.

Now the next objective which I want to achieve is to import the complete data model into QlikiVew from OBIEE RPD (where the data model is already built).

The idea is to use the data model build in OBIEE and build reports i.e only the visualization into QlikView.

Is it possible to import the data model into Qlikview instead of loading all the tables in Qlikview again and forming the joins?

If YES how? and if NO why?

And if we import the data model from OBIEE RPD, by default the key fields will not be visible in presentation layer.

And if we need to for the joins in QlikView (presentation layer in this case), key fields must be present. How do I achieve these things?

Hope I am clear on my part.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Laxmi

The associations between tables in the Qlikview data model are created in the script that loads the data into the Qlikview in-memory database and they are used in the presentation layer. The table associations are fundamental to how Qlikview works.

No, because Qlikview associates tables based on the field names that the tables have in common. It cannot use the primary and foreign keys of the tables from the source database.

Hi Gysbert,

Thanks for you reply. I had few questions.

Does those associations has to happen in presentation layer? Can't we use any existing Association directly into Qlikview Presentation Layer?

Is there any way I can connect to existing association(Data Model)?

Thanks for your time!

Hi Laxmi,

Were you able to load data from OBIEE ? Could you let us know what have done after your first step.

Apologies for raising a question in a closed thread.

Hi Kiran,

We were not able to fetch OBIEE data model into Qlikview, the reason being Qlikview creates its own data model as Gysbert Wassenaar explained in this thread.

You have create the data model(from OBIEE) again in Qlikview using LOAD SCRIPT.

Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,

With BI Connector, you can connect Qlik to OBIEE Subject Areas and Reports data (with joins and aggregations).

Thanks!
