Database access in Qlikview

Hello .

I work for Mobile operator company and my department has decided to use Qlikview for data visualization. Qlikview is not new to our Company and it has been used by other departments as well . The company has a data warehouse which receive a lot of data from different part of company ,   some data tables are sensitive. The Qlikview Server has access/Connection to this Database warehouse . The data tables i want to use in my Qlikview app , doesn't contain sensitive data , but when i asked permission to develop an app in Qlikview , i have been told by admin of QLikview product in our company that due to existence of sensitive data  in other data tables that Qlikview has access to , i am not allowed to be a developer .I have been told to wait until they start Qliksens  where the admin can pre-define a subset of data tables and  then i can develop my own app.

to me it sound not true , as far as i have understand  , Qliksens has the concept of self-developing but not due to limiting the data access or providing the possibility to create a subset of data  from a big data.

so my question is :

1) if Qlikview server has access to a  data warehouse with a lot of sensitive and non-sensitive data tables , How can Qlikview/ Qliksense limit the access of developer to only specific data tables ?

2) is there any different between Qlikview and Qliksens in accesing database ? Can Qliksens provide you an spesefic pre-defined set of tables and let you develop you app  that Qlikview cannot ?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi, your db access would be defined on the database not Qlik, so your permissions to the db would determine what you can and cannot access.

The admin team could create you a view with just the data you need, that way there would be no way you can access sensitive data.

With Qlik Sense you can define what permissions a user has and one of those options is to restrict or allow access to each connection.

I hope that helps.
