Developing on Server

Hello All,

My organization is currently in the middle of our initial implementation of QlikView and the question came up about developing on the server via the personal edition.

Essentially our Admin wants to know if it is possible for a developer to open a .QVW on the server through their personal edition, develop/create an application, and subsequently save that .QVW right on server.

We currently do not have the ability to do this, but we are not sure if it is a setting that can be changed or if this is not even possible.

Thanks in advance!

Jordan

Extract from manual -

  • ....With QV personal edition you cannot use your QlikView documents on different computers,

you cannot share your QlikView documents with another unregistered user, or open a Qlik-

View document from another user (exempted are documents specially prepared for personal use by

QlikTech). However, documents created in QlikView Personal Edition can be used with a licensed

copy of QlikView desktop and they can also be published on a QlikView Server.

  • You cannot import an entire document layout (sheets/objects/security settings, etc. in XML format,

without the data) into QlikView Personal Edition.

Hi Jordan,

If the version of qlikview desktop has a license you should be able to do this using mapped drives to the documents on the server.

You can't share documents using only the 'personal edition' of QlikView.

Thanks

Hi Jordan;

If you lease a license server, you can perform these actions. you can do this on menu file/open in a server.
