I started by simply downloading and installing the free QlikView Personal Edition.

When I first started it, it auto cranked up a wizard to load data from an xls spreadsheet.  Most people will have some spreadsheets, one with data in simple columns with a header title for each column is a good starter.

When you have some data loaded then right click anywhere in the big blank white area of the QlikView Desktop, click New Sheet Object then Chart...This Chart creation wizard will guide you through creating your first Chart.

The QlikView manual https://help.qlik.com/en-US/qlikview/12.1/Content/Home.htm is good.
