How to sum in a straight table

Does anyone know, whether is would be possible to make a sum per category in the first column shown in the straight table below?

And if it is possible, how does this work?

use pivot table and show partial sum in presentation tab

Really not sure what you mean First Column Sum() .. Perhaps this?

Sum(TOTAL <Column1> Your_Expression)

Is there any reason you don't want to use pivot table instead which can do that for you?
