If you are referring to the search object, I'd say is one of the most powerful tools you can use in QlikView (Qlik Sense works slightly different in how to search).
It allows the user to search for anything from a single place, either it be an amount, a customer ID, a name, a product tag, whatever.
Yes, definitely, I'd use it in any QlikView application you develop.
