Hi,

Can anyone please help me understand the use of "Serial" in Section access?

Have you looked into the HELP or the Introduction to section access PDF:

SERIAL

This field must contain a number corresponding to the

QlikView serial number.

Example: 4900 2394 7113 7304.

QlikView will check the serial number of the user and compare it to the value in this

field.

The SERIAL can be found in QlikView, “Settings”->”User Preferences”->License-tab.

I think this is only useful if you are using dedicated desktop client licenses, not named user CAL licenses you lease from the server.

Hi,

The stand alone license was more common in the past. Now, most of the licenses are related to the server ( using license lease). If you need to limit the use of a QVW, I suggest you use the OS name.

I am using standalone desktop license and that's why I was looking at this option.

It seems that it might work.
