Hi All,
I have read many articles as 'Tableau is good competitor to Qlikview'
Could you anybody share knowledge on Tableau pros & cons
Thanks in Advance
Nihhal.
I found an article about Tableau that has a good list of pros and cons.
Pros:
• Graphical representation – great for showing trends over time or comparisons
• Data source integration – can integrate with almost every type of databases/data sources like text files (csv, txt), SQL, SSAS, Oracle, etc
• Flexible – very simple for a user to create reports with parameters and filters
• Drill down – this functionality is built in so it is very simple to export into Excel and link from report to report, dashboard to dashboard.
• Links - Using the URL you can link to any webpage or any report accessible via URL
Cons:
• Unlike Tableau, QlikView is a powerful, agile platform.
• Lack of shortcuts – no controls such as dials or gauges which are generally find with dashboard
• Poor Performance in hierarchical data– this is an usability problems when filtering as it doesn’t recognise the hierarchy. You can’t clear all filters enabling the user to start again when using complex filters
• Unable to link parameters
More information about Tableau can be found via the link above. You can also find more information about QlikView on the same page.
Sarah,
I think it is fair to point out that that comparison is a few years old. Both products have advanced since then. Also Qlik Sense Desktop has been released and Qlik Sense server will be release shortly to address the self-service visualizations market. It is worth noting that Qlik Sense Desktop is free so it may be worth checking it out as well.

Josh - You make a very good point. Since you work for Qlik you may wish add these products to the review site, IT Central Station, Enterprise Tech Product Reviews from Real Users | IT Central Station that is where the review is from. You can also ask some of your customers to write reviews about the newer Qlik products and the newer version of QlikView.
I'll take a look at it.
Thanks,
Josh
Being a heavy Tableau user, I can confirm this is nearly impossible to do in Tableau! And the work you have to do to even get close is ridiculous. The juice is never worth the squeeze. If you want to do anything like this, or many other Excel like tables with conditional formatting, don't use Tableau.
Cheers,
--Shawn
